The capture of criminal insects handbook

Making your pitfall trap: Most experienced “Insect Crime Investigations Field Operatives” put a clean glass jar in a hole they’ve dug in the ground. They place the jar so as the top of the jar is level with the soil’s surface. This allows for the target criminal to walk along the ground, clamber over the lip of the jar and fall in, and once the felon has fallen into the jar, he or she is unable to climb out again and the suspect is captured. To increase the chances of capturing the most wanted criminal(s), a highly skilled Field Operative will also use a board, raised up on rocks or wooden legs, as a lid over their jar trap. The reason for this is to provide a dark place for the insect criminal to crawl into. Being shady characters, villainous insects like to hang out in the dark so as not to be seen. Page 5
